Life Membership for Ron Andrews
By Warren and Fran Gilchrist
from March 2002

We nominate Ron Andrews to be made a life member of ACT BMW Motorcycle Club. This statement supports a motion to be made at the Annual General Meeting of 2002 on Monday, 25 March.

Ron Andrews has been a member of the club since 1989. He was President for two years, has been Vice President, rally coordinator and social secretary and continues to represent the club as BMW Clubs Australia delegate for the seventh year. He has firmly established a beneficial relationship with BMW Clubs Australia and BMW Australia.

Ron brought much energy to his time in office and as a member and has worked tirelessly to promote and benefit the club. He began the regular Sunday breakfasts at Bungendore, the President's dinners in conjunction with BMW Car Club ACT, the catering and provision of firewood at club rallies, joint functions with the car club and Christmas dinners at a touring destination, especially those at Junee in 1996 and 1997.

Ron made the club banner and has made the signs and trophies for many club rallies, German days and official functions. He was instrumental as delegate to BMW Clubs Australia in talks which helped the ACT BMW dealer to start the motorcycle division at Phillip. As a result, the club now receives support and discounts and invitations to the launching of new models.

Ron introduced fundraising activities and has brought many new members to the club over the years as well as sourcing used BMW motorcycles for members. He has attracted support for the club from businesses, including John Fretton BMW, Hi-Lube, Belconnen Exhaust, Top Cat Upholstery and Jax Tyres.

We believe Ron is deserving of this recognition for his continuing interest in the welfare of the club and his efforts to advance the interests of members.

Ron was elected a life member at the March 2002 meeting.
